The Grade 5s went to Camp Sediba Kwele in Beestekraal for two nights. From start to finish, the children had a wonderful time with their classmates, having fun and enjoying their new-found independence while being away from home. On the first day the children participated in team building activities where they had to work together to solve problems. After an afternoon cool down in the swimming pool, the Grade 5s enjoyed an evening hike through the bush, experiencing a brilliant starry sky. Day two activities included zip lining, visiting a muddy ‘spa’, testing their courage on an obstacle course, building a shelter and scarecrow using materials found in the bush, as well as building a mud city. The children, both exhilarated and tired, returned home with smiles and happy hearts but also sadness that camp was over.
