How it all began

Carlwald House Preparatory School started out as 345 Nursery School.

345 Nursery school was started as a small play group by Sue Morrisson in 1979.

Lilla Vincent later bought the school and it grew in size under her ownership. At the time she emigrated there were approximately 75 children registered with her. Unfortunately, she closed the school prior to leaving in 2000.

In April 2001 the school was re-opened by George and Judy De Haas with 5 children (2 of which were their own) and by the end of the first year, there were 30 children in the first school end of year concert. Since then there has been steady growth each year and at present, we educate 150 children in the nursery school. There has been a considerable increase in the number of residents in Midrand and this has resulted in the demand for more good schools in the area, which resulted in further growth.

After many years of 345 parents requesting a primary school, Carlswald House Preparatory was opened in January 2012. The property next door was purchased and the school continued to grow into the school we know today.
