ACADEMIC SUPPORT CLASSES

In order to support children who are encountering learning difficulties, we offer after-school academic support lessons for Literacy, Numeracy and Fine Motor consolidation. These sessions are run by the Junior Preparatory teachers. Some Junior Preparatory teachers are trained in the Rave-O programme and administer this in these sessions. https://bellavista.org.za/rave-o/

GRADE R BRIDGING PROGRAMME

To ensure that key skills are developed successfully and that no child leaves Grade R without them, we have introduced a bridging programme. As part of this programme, specialist therapists visit the classes bi-weekly to support the teachers and children, especially those children who are finding a specific skill challenging.

The Grade R children are visited weekly by a specialist therapist alternating weekly between a Speech and Language Therapist who will focus on achieving language and literacy goals and an Occupational Therapist that will focus on sensory and motor skills.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

We have a Play Therapist/Registered Counsellor that works on-site at Carlswald House Preparatory.

    EXTERNAL THERAPISTS

    We work closely with a company called 123Support to provide specialist therapies to those who need them. Through 123Support we have an in-house Occupational Therapist and a Speech and Language Therapist. They work out of the school’s specially designed therapy rooms.

    IN-CLASS SUPPORT RESOURCES

    We have a number of resources within the classroom that assist children to support their sensory development. Such as exercise balls, wiggle-bees, therabands and weighted buddies.
